Romney wins Richland County
Published April 21st, 2007 in Straw polls.
Mitt Romney won another big straw poll today, this time in Richland County. Attendents say that at least 200 more people attended the meeting but left after waiting for over 3 hours for the straw poll.Â
Here are the results:
Romney 50
Brownback 17
McCain 13
Rudy 15
Huckabee 13
Hunter10
Cox 2
Bush 2
Yes, the convention ran long, but it was overwhelmingly positive. The republicans have a better field here than many believe in this race. Mitt, Rudy, Brownback were the winners. As expected, McCain continues to fade in SC (I look for him to actually pull out of the race after a dismal 3rd place showing in the real primary–or worse!)
That was a really nice touch by The State paper—burying the coverage on a small headline in the Metro section, continuing it in the obits, and…..placing the headline directly adjacent to a photo of a neo-nazi brownshirt rally at the statehouse. Wow, that was really nice, guys. Oh, and by the way, today’s paper also had a special pull-out segment with glowing coverage of Hillary, B.H. Obama, lawyerboy, et al.
About 200 at convention and 142 stayed and voted. Pretty good. It was three hours of non-stop speeches and votes. Don’t criticize what you don’t know. The campaign’s not over because you want it to be or think you know who the winner will be. Nice they waited until the speeches were over to vote.
Jim…according to Richland officials, over 200 ADDITIONAL people attended the event but did not vote.
“Don’t critize what you don’t know?” What does that mean? We were at the convention.
