Thompson begins courting SCGOP
Published May 30th, 2007 in Uncategorized.Earlier today Politico broke that Fred Thompson is indeed running for President.   Now there’s an indicator that Thompson will play in South Carolina and has already begun courting the SCGOP.
The Shot has learned that representatives from the Thompson campaign have contacted State Republican Party Chairman Katon Dawson and asked if Thompson can do a fundraiser for the SCGOP.
You heard that right. Thompson wants to raise cash for the party when you would think he’d be raising cash for himself.Â
A way to suck up to the party and grab some of the key activists away from McCain and Romney? You be the judge.

Folks at The Shot a little worried that Thompson might be the final nail in the coffin for Romney? If so it’s a valid worry. I’ve said all along that SC will be the end of the road for America’s most famous Mormon. Thompson’s entry into the race should do it. I think I hear the fat lady…
Not really Mike. I’m kinda glad he got in the race. It should make things interesting. I’m also looking foward to attending the event and covering it for the Shot.
Also Steve Young is the most famous Mormon in America, not Romney.
